About Me...
A portrait of Ashley

Hey - I'm Ashley

I grew up as an "artsy" kid in a small town in Michigan. My dad was the lead singer in a band, working in publishing and advertising. My mom had a great sense of style and loved fashion, which she channeled into crafting artisanal home goods and decor.

I've seen the design process in action since I was a kid. My dad was a manager at a newspaper. He’d take my sister and me to visit his office when we were kids. My favorite part was going to the drafting table and watching the newspaper layout being constructed by hand. I'd climb up on a tall chair and watch in awe as a lady took each block of text, maneuvering large words (headings) with chunks of small words (paragraphs) into columns occasionally mixing in pictures. Looking around the office, I was amazed at how each person had contributed to this stage. There was an art to crafting the perfect layout, continuously cutting and pasting with rubber cement and x-acto knives until it was just right.

*Some of you reading this are probably thinking, "she just described InDesign"..... and you would be right :) This was the pre-desktop design software era.

Fast forward, I’ve spent over 15 years designing products and solutions while working in visual merchandising, fashion, CX, and marketing.

In my free time, you can find me creating digital artwork, experimenting with design software, and binge-reading books on buyer psychology, thinking differently, innovative business strategies, and how to create products people love. A few of my favorites are: Think Again and Originals by Adam Grant, Start With Why by Simon Sinek, and anything by Malcolm Gladwell.

No longer a small-town girl, I moved to NYC for several years, eventually returning to Michigan where I now reside in the suburbs with my feisty Yorkie, Jingles, and work in product design and Webflow website development.
